Vernon Ivy Benson

Vernon Ivey Benson, 76, Gainesville resident formerly from Princeton, NC, passed away in his home on December 25, 2016. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and a long-time member of the Gainesville Elks Lodge #990.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lula Benson of Princeton, NC, siblings Elizabeth Benson, Royce Benson, Tommy Benson, and Don Benson and a granddaughter Emily. He is survived by his wife Alice Benson, daughter Kim Herring of Brevard, NC, grandson/son Doug Herring of Gainesville, FL, great granddaughters Alainna And Stella and siblings Joyce Nieubuurt of Eustis, FL and Steve Benson of Rosewood, FL.
