George C. Rowe, age 86, entered Heaven on Friday, June 9, 2017 after a brief illness. Born in Montreal, Canada on February 10, 1931 and having lived in Somerset, New Jersey and then Ocala, Florida since 1999 George remained active in his community and leaves behind many family and friends. George is survived by his wife, Maria Rowe and his son, Peter MacKerlich and his wife, Janet Laster-MacKerlich of Troy, Virginia. As one of nine siblings born to Erroll Rowe and Anna Rowe, George is survived by two siblings; Herbert Rowe and Annabelle Little both of Canada as well as numerous nieces and nephews located throughout the United States and Canada. While George had no formal grandchildren he did enjoy his fur grandchildren MacDoughall, Moira and William.
The family asks that anyone wishing to make a remembrance on behalf of George make a donation to either St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Salvation Army, two charitable causes George supported. While prayers are always welcome, the family wishes to remind everyone that George lived a great and fulfilling life and asks you to remember this as you think about his passing from this earth.

What a lovely tribute to a wonderful man. Autumn and I will think of Opa often, remembering all the fun stories and family holidays together. Uncle George, give the family big hugs from us, and don’t forget my Oma and of course, fur baby Susie. Love you, Bon and Autumn

My family was lucky to have met George during his Golden Age. He was a wonderful man who always spoke highly of his family. We enjoyed hearing his stories and will always remember his laugh. He was known as Opa to my children, who adored him. He will be greatly loved and missed by all of us. Prayers for peace to those he left behind.
My prayers go out to you and your family. Henry and I will always remember George as the kindest, happiest guy you could meet. Always making you laugh, I can still see him slapping his leg when something tickled him and he would laugh so hard. Our deepest sympathy for your loss. Gail and Henry
In loving memory of a dear brother and best friend . RIP George , you fought bravely and long with adversity and always came through with a smile until the very end . I will miss your off hand remarks that had me laughing so hard about some of our shared childhood events but mostly I will miss talking to you on the occasions we had to communicate by phone . As has been said before , there is just so much I should have told you and how much I admired your character but in my heart I believe you knew that anyway so that gives me some solace at this most sad time . You will always be in my thoughts and most precious memories .
Dear Auntie Mitzi and Peter, Words cannot express the heartache we feel for you. We have so many wonderful memories of Uncle George, and these will stay in our hearts and minds forever. Our deepest sympathies are with you. Much love to you both, Bente, Erroll, Travis
