John Elmo Fowler

October 12, 2017

John ELMO Fowler affectionately known as "Mo", Popa, Daddy, Daddaw and Dad. No matter what you called him he always answered. The Earth was blessed with this wonderful man on December 29, 1955 and the Lord needed back on the morning of October 12, 2017. He fought a hard and painful battle with cancer. Popa fought the mean and relentless disease until he knew his family was on a good track and would be alright. Only then did this blessed man decide he would rest now. His body gave out on that morning while surrounded by family at ET York Hospice. Mo had a infectious smile. Some of the things that brought it out was his family, country music, slots, the lottery and raising money for his favorite charity The March of Dimes. It would take the whole paper to explain the love and life of this man. He loved with all of him, selflessly. He was predeceased by his step-mom Frances Fowler, his mother Doris Cash, His Dad and Mom in love Affie J.R. and Clelan Fowler, his beloved niece Sandra Fowler-Bristow. He is survived by his wife of40 years, Gayle, best friends and soul mates always. Three daughters Star, Maresa and Angel. Two son in loves Corey K. Welch and Britt Edwards. 1. Elmo was a neighbor and friend for many years. He will be missed by his family and friends. May God’s grace be with you through this time and we will continue to pray with the family. John, Robin, Ian and Mary

  2. The Lord needed a special angel and he called upon you. I will always remember our fun times together. You will be greatly missed by all that loved you. Until we meet again, you will always be in my heart.

  3. I remember all the good times we had in our neighborhood. As neighbors we always looked after each other . Elmo was always there when we needed him. His earthly journey has been completed and may he rest in peace. John, Robin, Ian O’hara and Mary Griffis Morgan.

  4. To the man that brought me a flying squirrel when I was 8 because it fell out of a tree that he was cutting down when he worked for a tree surgeon, and the same man that drove 50 miles roundtrip from Campville to work to get me pain medicine for a sick kidney, because work was closer than payday. Always there, always providing where you could….always going that extra mile. I love you brother and miss your presence. But it will only be for a little while. I will see you again!

  5. Uncle Elmo treated me like his own daughter and opened his home to me for many years. He was the source of my moms sense of peace because she knew he kept me safe. I owe lots of meals and warm nights to uncle Elmo and Aunt Gayle. Every time I prank my kids I think of you and how you used to turn the breaker off in the house and scare us girls silly. I love you Uncle.

  6. Mr. Fowler will always be remembered by our team at Caring Pharmacy. He had such a gentle spirit, never one to complain even when he wasn’t feeling well. He was one wonderful example of a great man with a beautiful heart. May his soul rest in eternal peace. And we pray for peace and comfort for his loving family. Love, Caring Pharmacy
