Robert J Coile

Robert Joel Coile, 82, of Alachua, FL passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. He was the son of Emory Bussey Coile and Brady Sue Dye Coile. He was born at home in Madison County, GA. He is survived by wife, Nancy Craft Coile; daughter, Danielle (Robert) Neal, of Lawrenceville, GA; son, Robert W.(Julie) Coile of Suwanee, GA, a sister, Linda (Donnie) Caston of Mt. Pleasant, SC; grandchildren Lillian Neal, Catherine (Trevor) Sands, Caitlin Coile, Christine Neal, Patrick Coile, Jonathan Neal, and many beloved family.


Robert graduated from Athens High School and the University of Georgia with a degree in textile management.  He served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War era. He was stationed in Washington State and also Goose Bay Labrador, with the 92nd Bomber Wing with 4162d USAF Hospital (SAC), and enjoyed telling stories of his time in the service. He worked as a Supervisor at Chicopee Manufacturing Plant in Athens, Ga. where was a recipient of the Chicopee Achievement Award. When the plant closed down, he worked in several jobs, including insurance sales, advertising  at the Dahlonega Nugget [GA] and the High Springs Herald [FL]. He excelled in each of these. He was active in the Civitan Club in Athens, Ga and in the Lions Clubs of Dahlonega, GA, and Alachua, FL, where he served as a President.


He was a lifelong Baptist, and was baptized at East Athens Baptist Church. He was a deacon before he was married Nancy. Churches he was a member of included East Athens Baptist Church, Colbert Baptist Church, Dahlonega Baptist Church, Rock Branch Baptist Church and Forest Grove Baptist Church. He was a deacon in most of these churches. He sang in the choir, and had a beautiful baritone voice. He was known for his beautiful rendition of "His Eye Is On The Sparrow."


He loved his Lord, his family, his friends and the University of Georgia Bulldogs. Robert was a great storyteller, and was well read, and could share many facts. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, gardening and golfing. He was a ringer at horseshoes! He enjoyed listening to Irish music.

  3. Danielle, I am so sorry to hear of the passing if your beloved father. I know you loved him deeply. He must have been an amazing man to have raised such a loving person as you. My prayers are with you and your family. I know the pain of losing a parent. But, I also know that God can and will carry you through this day and every day to follow.
