William Henry Sodek

William Henry “Bill” Sodek passed away Tuesday, March, 13, 2018 in Gainesville, Florida. He was born October 18, 1951 in Jacksonville, Florida to Frank Sodek, Jr. and Ruth Thompson Sodek.
 
Bill graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, FL in 1969. During his high school days, he worked at the Dreamette which was the local hangout. Bill retired from Bell South after 33 years of service as a PBX/Special Service Tech. Bill was very active and enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing and working in his garden. He grew datil peppers and created the most amazing datil pepper sauce. He loved to cook and was very creative with his grilling, smoking, and awesome desserts. Bill enjoyed life, had a great sense of humor, and was a pleasure to be around. He was a good, honest, kind, hard-working man, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by so many.
 
Bill is preceded in death by his father, Frank Sodek, Jr., and sister, Rosemary Sodek Coward.
 
He is survived by his mother, Ruth Sodek Crouse, of Gainesville; two sons, Charles and Ryan Sodek, both of Starke; two brothers, Frank Sodek, III (Vera) of Alachua, and Gary Sodek (Debby) of Melbourne; three grandchildren, Chad Sodek, Taylor Sodek, and Alyssa Sodek, all of Jacksonville; and his most loyal furry companion, Tucker, who never let Bill out of his sight.
 
Crevasse’s Simple Cremations of Gainesville, FL is in charge of the arrangements. Bill has requested that his ashes be scattered on St. Augustine Beach.

  9. Bill, God Bless you. All the good times we had in high school. Getting you the job at the Dreamette, pumping all that ice cream. We enjoyed the chorus together for 3 years and especially our quartet, with Rick and Neil. I’ll bet your family didn’t know that we sang on TV about 5 times. All the fun we had playing your brother’s drums at your mom’s. We also had great times in your mom’s red Comet convertible . There are many fun stories I could tell your family. God is with you. You are still a good friend. I’ll never forget you.

  10. I am so sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. Although I have not seen Bill for many years, I remember him as a true stand up guy, who was a friend to anyone who got to know him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

  11. You were one of my oldest friends, we had been together since the third grade at West Riverside El., hard to believe you are gone!! So glad you found me & we reconnected years ago!! Rest In Peace, Little Brother!!
