Shirley Stafford

June 22, 2018

Shirley J. Stafford, age 88, claimed victory on June 22, 2018 and flew away to heaven, free of pain into the arms of Jesus. After declining health over the past 3 months she went to Community Hospice Hadlow Center where she peacefully passed. During her time in Jacksonville she received exceptional care from the loving nurses and doctors at Baptist South 6D. We will forever be grateful to everyone who cared for her.

Shirley was born to Clinton A. and Katie S. Dixon on February 18, 1930 in Wyoming, Illinois where she was raised. She eloped and married Everett Stafford on December 11, 1950 who predeceased her on June 11, 1993. They moved their family to Cocoa, Florida in 1971. They moved to Cocoa Beach in 1978 where they enjoyed the condo life. Shirley worked in the restaurant business as office manager/bookkeeper for over 30 years. She also was manager/bookkeeper at her condo for over 30 years, retiring on Feb. 1, 2018. She loved working and the countless friends she made throughout her life. She enjoyed reading, collecting Precious Moments, frogs, chiming clocks, watching all Gator and Chicago games and most of all spending time with her family. Shirley was Mom, Grandma (Gaga) & Gigi to her family who will lovingly remember her for her faith, unconditional love, independent strength, forgiveness, organizational skills, calling family to sing entire Birthday song, best potato salad and goulash, special Christmas ornaments, setting the perfect table, a gracious hostess and saying “night, night.”

Shirley is survived by her sister, Norma Berfield, three children, Michael Kent Stafford (Melody), Karen S. Wallace (Wayne), Kevin S. Stafford (Marian), step-son James Stafford (Cheryl). Grandchildren Katie (Lynn), Kyle (MaryAlice), Koby (Jennifer), Kealy (Matthew), Kory. Great-grandsons, Deacon, Davis, Grayson. Niece, Margo, nephews, Brian, Scott.
