Tana N. Thomas went home to be with her Lord on August 18, 2018 in Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Florida. Tana was born June 26, 1948 in Palatka, FL to Jack and Bernice Nelson. Tana graduated high school from Palatka High School in 1966 and also attended St Johns River C.C. Tana was married for 46 years to her loving husband Charles E. Thomas Jr., who preceded her in death in 2015. Tana moved to Gainesville in 1972 where she lived and worked the rest of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who before her declining health enjoyed spending time traveling with her family to the mountains and the beach, as well as being heavily involved in her grandchildren’s activities for school, church, and athletics. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Thomas Jr., her parents, and her brother Tim Nelson. She leaves behind her son Scott Thomas and wife Tracy of Chiefland, FL; grandchildren Becca Thomas of Gainesville, FL and Seth Thomas of Owensboro, KY; her sister in law Alice Stewart of St Augustine, FL, and sister in law Ella Nelson of Jacksonville, FL. The family would also like to extend its sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Haven Hospice of Gainesville for the compassionate care given to Tana during her illness.
