Nilda Besil

September 1, 2018

Nilda Fernandez-Calienes Besil, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully on September 1, 2018 following a lengthy illness. She was born January 22, 1934 in Remedios, Cuba and came to Jacksonville, Florida in 1960 where she made a loving home for her family, and where she lived until her death.
In addition to being a consummate homemaker, Nilda was a skilled seamstress and an avid collector of miniature dollhouses. A lifelong animal lover, she always had at least one cat at her side. She also enjoyed crafting and jigsaw puzzles, but was happiest of all when surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her devoted husband Antonio and their three daughters: Maria (Frank) Pardi, Margarita (Don) Blanchard, and Marilyn (Gene) Meyers as well as three grandchildren Austin Sutherland, Hayley Sutherland, and Mario Meyers, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
