  1. I’m sorry that the only memories of you I have a vague and from a time long ago. I wish I could’ve met you. I’ve heard that you were always one of the better parts of my paternal side of the family and I’m so glad to know that. Rest in peace, grandpa Gunnison. ❤️

  2. 😫 Dad, I will miss our talks on the phone, we covered so much of our history. I know I’ve told you this before, but, you are the most intellectual, the most tender hearted and one that was anti-confrontational people I ever knew. I knew you loved me as I recall the night I had to leave at the house in Murphy, North Carolina. Somehow I believe we both knew it would be the last time we would be face to face on this earth. We both cried…twice, as I had to come back for my phone charger. Not a day went by without me thinking about you and mom. I hope to see you soon, I just need to follow your example and I should do fine. I will never forget you and this world won’t seem the same without you in it. God in heaven knows I love you….ask Him 😉 Here’s a little poem I wrote for you; DAD Dad, your crying but you look so happy? by the way, why did that doctor slap me? Dad, you took the extra wheels of my bike? but that’s ok, we can give them to Mike. Dad, why are you and Mom always telling me "BEHAVE"? you’ve been saying it to me, Mike, Tim and Dave. Dad, it’s not easy leaving to be on my own, you and Mom told me I had to once I had grown. Dad, the NAVY is tough but, it’s not too bad, gives me time to think of the life that I’ve had. Dad, I still don’t understand life, it’s beginning to get hard, the wife and I bought a house and have 3 dogs in the yard. Dad, I’m starting to feel old, dont know how you two did it, if I have the time to get away we’d come there for a visit. Dad, is Mom doing better and are you feeling OK? Me? It’s a struggle, but we’ll manage in some way. Dad, I understand now what you and Mom have gone through, life isn’t easy, we all just have to make do. Dad, I love you was the the last thing I told you, life will be empty in a world without you. __ Zander
