Geraldine Kutner, 60, Inglis
Geraldine Kutner of Inglis passed away Friday night, September 28, 2018 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Geri, as she preferred to be called, slipped away quietly and without pain and was surrounded by her family and close friends when she went to Heaven to join her Mama and Papa who had recently passed.
Geri dedicated her life to being a stay at home Mom for her daughter Monica, who was born with Cerebral Palsy 31 years ago. Geri chose to give her all in the care of Monica and was a staunch supporter in the fight for the rights of handicapped persons, children in particular. As with most mothers, caring for a handicapped child was not a burden, this was what mothers were meant for and Geri whole-heartedly gave Monica, and all her children, the unconditional love and support a mother would give any child. As difficult as times may have gotten, Geri never gave up and Monica never gave up on her.
Even when faced with her own mortality, Geri’s first and foremost concern was the well being of her daughter. On occasion, when time would allow, Geri would take a few moments to herself, and although she did not frequent many places on a regular basis, at times she could be found enjoying special times with her friends at Scooter Haven or a quick meal with family and friends at The Pub.
Geri was preceded in death by her Paternal and Maternal Grandparents, her father, Gerald Kutner of Orlando, her mother Mary Ann Neeld Swilley and her step-father, who has always been known as Dad, Paul “Papa” Swilley of Inglis.
Geri is survived by her daughters, Paula Atkinson of Inglis, Teresa Colston, Idaho and Monica Hernandez of Inglis. She is also survived by sisters, Evelyna Wilson, Welaka, FL; Sheena Price, Inglis, FL; brothers, Michael FA Havens, Homosassa, FL and Ricky Kutner, Inglis, FL; half sisters, Dorothy Boyd, Cocoa Beach, FL and Joy Benson, Penn Yann, NY. Stepbrother Robert Swilley, Leesburg, FL and Stepsister, Judith Jones, Orlando. Grandchildren, Miranda Englehart, Homosassa, FL, Trent Rader, Inglis, FL, Talan Colston, Dominic Colston and Marcus Colston all of Idaho, and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Care givers from Hospice of Citrus County and the Nature Coast were on hand to provide exceptional 24 hour care during Geri’s last days. Her wishes were to be cremated and her ashes spread at some of her favorite places. Crevasse’s Simple Cremations in Gainesville will oversee final arrangements. Geri would prefer that donations be made to assist in caring for Monica. Donations can be made at any Wells Fargo Bank in the name of Monica Hernandez.
