Mary M. Gruppioni, age 70, died after a long illness on Monday, November 12, 2018 at North Florida Regional Medical Center, in Gainesville, Florida.
She was born in Philadelphia to Joseph and Mary (Bridenbach) Spieker. She has one sister, Ava Allen. She also had one brother, Joseph Spieker. Mary graduated from Jules E. Mastbaum Area Vocational Technical School in 1966 when she was 18.
For many years, Mary was a professional dance instructor and managed her own dance studio with her only child, her son, Robert Gee, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Several of her students, including her son, became professional dancers and performed on Broadway.
She met and married her beloved husband John D. Gruppioni, an auditor for the U.S. Department of Labor in 2004. They lived for many happy years in Upper Deerfield, New Jersey. Mary and John retired and moved to Gainesville, Florida in 2009. Mary was active in her church, Gethsemane Lutheran, in Gainesville, Florida where she had many friends.
Mary is survived by her husband, John, her son Robert (Bobby) and his wife Tera Gee, and her sister Ava Allen of Bulls Gap, TN. She also leaves her two grandchildren, Robby and Riley Gee, and one great-grandchild. She was beloved by everyone who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
