Susan Margaret (Miss Peggy) Drummond Smith, 92, died Tuesday, June 4th, at Haven Hospice.
Mrs. Smith, daughter of the late Thomas Purnell Drummond and Susan Chalk Drummond, was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She moved to Gainesville from Richmond, Virginia with her husband and children in 1969. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.
At the time of her death, Mrs. Smith was retired (at age 85) from Wise’s Parkwood Pharmacy where she had been a bookkeeper for 35 years. She was an early member of Grace United Methodist Church at Ft. Clark where she served as Recording Secretary for the Administrative Council and was also a long-standing member of the choir.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles (Chuck) Edward Smith. She is survived by her daughters Susan T. Harrold and Nancy S. Dampier, both of Gainesville; a grandson, Johnathan C. Dampier of Charleston, SC, a granddaughter, Meghan E. Prettyman, of Gainesville, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
The family requests donations to be made in her honor to Haven Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
