Lawrence A Sturdivant

Lawrence (Alvin) Sturdivant Sr., of Florahome passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019 at Roberts Haven Hospice Care Center due to lung cancer with family by his side, except Larry Jr. who had serious heart surgery.  He was born in Avon Park, FL September 28, 1929.  He was the son of Ruth Aline Padgett Sturdivant Childers and Willys Curtis Sturdivant.  He was drafted in the army and served his time in New Jersey.  He was married to Lillian Woodcock for 62 years.  He retired in 1993 from Georgia Pacific after 38 years.  He enjoyed hunting and working in his garden, reading his bible and meditating in the garden.  He like the Gators.  He was a member of First Church of God of Florahome.  He is preceded in death by 2 great granddaughters, 1 nephew, 2 half brothers from Pensacola.  Besides his wife he is survived by 2 sons Lawrence Jr. (Melinda), John L. (Tina), 2 brothers Walter Edward (Ruth), Harry Childers (Janet) 1 sister Mary Whitaker (Walt) of Arnoldsville, GA. Half brother Wayne Sturdivant (Faye) of Pensacola, 5 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 5 great grands, 3 step grandsons.
