Sammie Jackson (Doc) Kinnett, 70 yrs old went to be with the Good Lord (as he called Him) on December 23, 2019. He was born in Douglas, Georgia to Johnnie and Sallie Kinnett. Survived by his wife of 35yrs, Lesa Kinnett, (whom he would introduce as the lady he was still dating). Children: Shannon Kinnett (Kelli), Elizabeth Garcia (Chris), Michael Ritchey (Ruby), Sammie Joe Kinnett, Shawn Kinnett and Heather Patrick 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews He is preceded in death by sisters Sarah Ellis, Betty Ellis, Mydrice Smith and brother Walter Kinnett. Survived by sisters Bobbie Peterec and Sallie Power and brother Wayne Kinnett.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends, having large gatherings at his home, riding his Harley and going to military reunions with his Vietnam Brothers.
He served his country for three years in the Army. Serving with the 82nd Airborne (AA), 173rd Airborne (The Herd) while serving in Vietnam as a Combat Medic. He was awarded many medals including the Bronze Star.
He was a Lifetime member of the following: Vietnam Veterans of America, 82nd Airborne (AA), 173rd Airborne (The Herd) and Disabled American Veterans. Sam considered it an honor to serve his country and his patriotism was obvious to all who knew him.

My sincere condolences to Doc’s family. I didn’t know Doc personally but I consider him a brother as I too served with the 173rd in Vietnam and the 82nd stateside. May he forever Rest In Peace.

Did not personally know Doc, but understand this; he was a Brother just as surely as if we were blood related. From one VN vet and fellow member of The Herd to another. Airborne, All The Way!!!
I had the great honor of meeting Doc at the Herd 2019 Reunion. He served with my father, Jack Beers. I'm ever grateful for knowing Doc, of his love for daddy, and for making me feel welcomed and loved. He and daddy, and those who've gone before are no doubt raising the roof off Heaven.
