Charles Ray Robertson, Sr.

On Wednesday January 8th, 2020 we lost our dear father, an abrupt end to a rich life full of adventure, enterprise and a loving family.

Born on August 2, 1921 in Fentress Mississippi, to Leroy and Myrtice Robertson his humble beginnings propelled him into a lifelong desire to be the best he could be, inspiring others to do the same. He excelled in academics, sports as a young man, joining the Navy 1943 as an officer. Upon entering the Navy, he entered flight school and began a joyous career as a Naval aviator, flying missions off of aircraft carriers as well as land-based reconnaissance. He enjoyed a highly decorated career in the military achieving the rank of Commander including receiving bronze medal and commendations for his detection of two Russian submarines in New York harbor while Commanding Office of tactical squadron VP-21 during the cold war. A humble man we rarely heard these stories and his belief system over the years became one that valued peace over war at all costs. Beyond his rewarding naval career, he furthered his education to become a CPA with a masters in accounting to help others as a financial advisor.

He was preceded in death by his beloved life partner Shirley Ward Robertson, Nancy Robertson (Griek) and a grandson Jason Mendoza. He is survived by two loving sisters JoAnn Denham, Pat Kent, three children, Ann Hoyme, Charles Robertson Jr, and Jean Osbrach, eleven grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Charlie as he was known in later years, had a thirst for knowledge and was a voracious reader, he loved children and took great pleasure in being a grandfather and great grandfather. Throughout the years he helped many people throughout his long life. Charlie had a special fondness for Mariola, who became his caretaker and dear friend over the past four years. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
