Betty Jean Etling

Betty Etling, age 91, joined her loving husband of 72 years in eternity on January 24, 2020. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt.

A true modern woman with a career as a switchboard operator and dispatcher, Betty enjoyed her work and her community involvement with the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary. She loved providing a warm, affectionate home for her husband and two daughters. Betty raised her girls on the golden rule and was always so proud of the strong women they grew up and became.

Growing up with two sisters, Betty remained very close to her family even when miles separated them. She adored having all her family around, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty always brought a big bowl of her famous potato salad to every family event. Her soft guidance, endearing support, and loving encouragement will be missed.

Betty was preceded in death by her true love, Richard. She is survived by daughters Alice Phelps (Buddy) and Carol Royer (Tom); grandson Brian Royer (Tracie) and granddaughter Erin Harlow (Brent); 4 great-grandchildren Lily, Morgan, Payton, and Logan; siblings Evelyn Akers (Larry) and Margaret Parsons; and many nieces and nephews.
