Mary Alice Moncure Harding, August 27, 1924 - February 14, 2020, Gainesville, Florida.

Mrs. Harding was the daughter of the late WRD Moncure and the late Harriett Ashby Ogburn Moncure. She was born in Abingdon, VA in 1924 and moved to Richmond, VA in 1929. She married Charles Tayloe Harding, Sr. in 1956 and in 1967 moved with her family to Lakeland, Fl. In 2002, she relocated to Gainesville, FL pending her move into the Oak Hammock Retirement Community in the summer of 2004. On February 1, 2014 she moved to the Searstone Retirement Community in Cary, NC to be near her daughter, and in August 2017 moved back to Oak Hammock in Gainesville.

She was proceeded in death by her husband in 1984 and all of nine of her siblings, and is survived by her daughter Mary Moncure (Monty) H. Stepura (Gene) of Gainesville, FL; her son Charles Tayloe Harding, Jr. (Christine) of Columbia, SC; her six grandchildren: Matthew Prasad Stepura, Mary Elizabeth (Maryel) H. Bell (Bryan), Madison (Maddie) Duryea H. Hubert (Rick), Charles (Chase) Tayloe Harding, III (Emily), Dominica (Mimi) Moncure Harding, and Christina Grace Harding; as well as four great-grandchildren, Oscar Cleveland Bell, Emilia Moncure Bell, Charles (Charlie) Carey Hubert, and Felix Ray Hubert, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and a large step family of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

During her marriage, she traveled extensively both within the United States and abroad on business trips with her husband. She was an avid golfer and played on many courses around the world as well as being an active member of several clubs. Mrs. Harding was a lover of beautiful music, classic art and architecture, was active in the early formation of the Lakeland (Imperial) Symphony Orchestra and was an active member of the Polk County Museum. She was a director of the Needlework Guild of America for whom she served as treasurer for six years, and was for thirty-five years a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and the Lone Palm Golf Club, both of Lakeland, Fl.
