I ended up working over 40 yrs and was able to comfortably retire.
You inspired so many people in your time at Publix. You are one of a kind!

Jim hired me the same day he hired George, who posted above. That photo is from George's last day at work before retirement, when I called Jim and suggested we go visit George on his last day. We really enjoyed reminiscing with George that day, about how we both started our jobs the same day (thanks to Jim) and had progressed in our careeres while remaining friends the entire time. Jim was not only a co-worker but also a friend. He started me off in the job that eventually became my career, as he persuaded me to consider staying with the company after i graduated from college. We stayed in pretty close touch after Jim retired back around 1986, but I'm sad that I had not spoken to him the last couple years.

When you asked Jim a question, you could always count on getting a straight answer, even if it was not what you wanted to hear. Jim was always that honest. I've lost a dear friend but I have memories to look back and smile on. Your family is in our prayers during this time. Rest in Peace, Buddy. We miss you… Tim
