Darrell S. Marsh I, age 68 of Summerfield, Fl. Passed away October 25th,2020 at home surrounded by his family, in Summerfield, Fl.
Darrell S. Marsh I was born in Clarksburg W.VA. to Darrell and Dortha Marsh on March 17th, 1952. When he was six weeks old they relocated to Warren, OH, where he attended Warren Western Reserve High School, and played football for the Raiders, and graduated in 1971. He later worked as a paint and bodyman for 53 years, lastly for KWI of Ocala, FL. He also worked as a musician, his first paid performance at the age of 13, and his last being May 23,2020 as the bass player for The Boogie Brothers Band.
He enjoyed playing a variety of music, attending concerts, fishing, spending time with his family, going on vacations, camping and watching his favorite team The Pittsburg Steelers play football. Throughout his life, he received several certifications for his paint and body skills, including a five-star Chevy Man Certification. His biggest musical challenge came in the mid 1970’s when he filled in for the First Lady of Country Music Lorretta Lynn’s bass player and sharing the stage with her at Ponderosa Park. While he played in many successful bands over the years, the Boogie Brothers Band was his longest running successful band. Making his band members Richard Sweade (Debbie), and Sterling Patterson (Diana) extended family, and not just band members. You could find The Boogie Brothers playing out most weekends and some weeknights, every month for the past several years, but most commonly at City Fire in The Villages, Blue Gator, The Shed, VFW Hall, the Bug Jam, and private Parties.
Darrell is survived by his wife Cynthia Marsh of Summerfield, FL. Daughter Heather Marsh, Son Timothy Marsh. Daughter’s Marie Gill and Cynthia English (Justin), and son Darrell S. Marsh II (Amanda). His sibling’s sister Deborah Mansfield and brother Daniel Marsh (BillieJo). Brother in-laws Mike. Darrin, and Maurice (Dawn). Sister in-laws Ellen (Byron), and Glenda. He is also survived by ten grandchildren Emily; Breana; Luna; Mrissia; Ella; Jessica; Damian; Alayna; Aria; and Ryan. He also is survived by two great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and other loved ones. He was proceeded in death by his parents, grandparents, one grand son , in-laws and other loved ones.
Darrell was a man of countless talents. Influencing other musicians and bringing joy to his fans. He once said: “Its’s the first cheer of the crowd, that inspires me to play for them. I watch them dance, the lights flashing, and I know its all worthwhile.” Through out his life, he taught body and paint, carpentry, fishing, and camping skills to others. He was a heartwarming example of how to be a loving family man. He will be missed by all, while we rejoice in the fact that he has “Gone Home.”
