John Jay Brass, 77, of Summerfield, Fl passed away on November 20, 2020 at his home with his wife of 47 years Linda. He was born on July 23, 1943 in Lorain, Ohio the son of John and Blanche (Breeden) Brass.John was a graduate of Bowling Green State University and spent 32 years teaching English in the Amherst School District retiring in 1997. He was a former member of the Meadowlarks Motorcycle Club racing dirt bikes. He was intimately involved in the inception of the Amherst Youth Soccer League, not only as a coach and referee, but as an enthusiastic supporter of his sons Justin and Adam during their soccer playing years. He enjoyed many years playing golf around Lorain County and at Eagle Ridge the community course in Summerfield.He is survived by his wife Linda (Miller) Brass and sister Joy Kingsley; sons Justin Brass and Adam Brass; grandchildren Ethan, Jacob, John and Elizabeth.Memorial contributions may be made to the Food 4 Kids program, PO Box 992, Ocala, Fl 34478. John and Linda volunteered for many years to this program that provides food for needy children through the Marion County Public Schools.
