Rudolph Deason

We hate to report the passing of Rudy Deason this past Monday, but he went on his own terms, in his own home, with Vera at his side, peaceful and easy, just like he lived. His remains will accompany his wife Vera to his home state of TX, where his story originated in a one room house as the oldest of nine children. He will later be interned next to family at a National Cemetery.

We were lucky to have such a strong and peaceful man as a Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather.  The impact an individual has on your very character NEVER sets in until they are physically absent. Those of him that knew him well all say the same thing; strong, talented, dedicated, committed, humorous, patient and most frequently, peaceful. Once you spent some time with Rudy, he put you at peace with his mere presence.

Rudy embodied what we consider the BEST traits in humanity.  He was ALWAYS there for everyone, even when they weren’t there for him, in EVERY facet of his life.  He taught life lessons through consistent examples, and never once used an aggressive measure to prove his point.  He could have been anything he desired, but he chose to be a Husband, Father and Grandfather as a 1st priority, everyday. He could solve any problem, in every domain of life.  

By his example, we each know that we are much better persons for knowing him, and we all know that all his children through grandchildren, are far better for his involvement in their life. We also believe that he set the benchmark that others could follow. Many have, but it’s a very high standard in today's selfish world.  It’s hard to reconcile the number of lives he touched without ever trying to be an influence, but just a peaceful and consistent example.

Rudy was the oldest child of John Therman and Eunice Bigham Deason of TX.  From Corporal in the Army during the Korean War, to Mopar Technician, to instructor in the LA Vocation Technical System, to GM National Instructor, he raised three children in Bossier City Louisiana before retiring to Alachua Florida in the late 90’s next door to his son Dick, and daughter in law Natasha. His career pursuits took him from Alaska to Florida.

Rudy is preceded in death by his sisters Jo, Nell, Deborah, and his brothers, Johnny and Jimmy. Rudy leaves behind his sister Marybeth, as well as brothers Gary and Therman and his loving wife Vera, who was his world. He leaves behind his oldest daughter June (WI), along with her daughters Jennifer and Jessica, as well as great grandson Kai, and great granddaughter Samantha. In addition, he leaves behind his son Dick, his daughter in law Natasha and two loving grandsons Jacob and Zachary, who spent all their lives under his constant watch and guidance. And finally, he leaves behind his youngest daughter Pennie (TX), his son in law Steve, grandson Todd and his wife Samantha, and great granddaughter Audree.
