Sherice Denese Young

SHERICE DENESE MCCANN YOUNG, 46, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Haven E.T. York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville, Florida.

Sherice was born on August 12, 1974 in Gainesville, Florida. She graduated from Chiefland High School.

For the past six years, Sherice was the Housekeeper at the Phi Delta Theta fraternity at the University of Florida. She loved her “boys,” and many of them considered her to be the “House Mom.” Prior to this, Sherice worked for several area nursing homes as the Activity Director and Certified Nursing Assistant.

Sherice loved life. She was fiercely independent and had a huge network of friends and family. She was always the best-dressed person in the room, and she had an unmatched sense of style. Sherice was also known for her crafting skills. She loved to repurpose and could turn any old item into something beautiful and sparkly. Sherice also loved her animals. She had several pets over the years, and she considered all of them her “fur-children.”

Sherice is survived by her family; her mother, Charlie Mae Scott Ward; her father, Tyrone McCann; her sisters, Ardonna Ward, LaTanya Mitchell, and Tyshonda McCann; her niece, Trinity S., her nephew, Lucious H.; her fiancé, Richard Kent; her dogs, Cadmus and Bentley; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as many special friends.
