Michael Kenneth Borges

BORGES, Michael Kenneth Borges, 66, of Ocala, formerly of New Bedford, MA, passed on from this
world to be with Jesus, Sunday, May 30, 2021, after a long, courageous fight against kidney disease. He
received excellent care during his last days at Estelle’s House, Hospice of Marion County.

Mike was married to his loving wife Christel (Goss) Borges for 15 years. He was son to the late Leonard
Borges Sr and Hope (Lent) Borges, brother to Judy Borges and Lenny Borges (Pauline) all of the New
Bedford, MA area. He is also survived by his daughter Christy Reis (Josh), New Bedford, son Joseph
Borges (Christina) of Orlando, and sons Drew Smith and Codie Smith both of Ocala. Mike has 4
grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren that he loved dearly.

Mike moved to Ocala from New Bedford in 1994. He was a volunteer Firefighter at the Marion County
Fire Station #9, in Orange Lake, Fl. Mike spent 20 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse serving others in
the Skilled Nursing Facilities and the Department of Corrections in Marion County. He was very
passionate about his work as a nurse and cared for his patients as if they were family. He retired from
nursing in 2017.

Mike was an avid sports fan and a lifelong Red Sox's and New England Patriots fan. He was fascinated
with trains and loved to spend time near the water and our family vacations in the mountains. Mike and
his family are members of Meadowbrook Church in Ocala.
