James Arthur Ivines Jr.
Jim was born in Port Jefferson Long Island, New York. The only child of James A Sr. and Alice M Ivines. In his early life he lived between Port Jefferson Long Island, New York; Tucson, Arizona; and Coconut Grove, Florida.
At the young age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy to serve his country during WWII. He fulfilled his duty as a Corpsman at Moffett Naval Air Station in California. When discharged from the Navy he returned home to Coconut Grove, where he met the love of his life, Jackie and was married. Together they raised four children.
Jim was always a cowboy at heart, so he pursued a job as a blacksmith, and raised his family in the horse industry. That is where two of his sons followed in his footsteps to become a blacksmith also.
Jim and Jackie moved from South Florida to pursue their dreams and started C-J Arabians, a horse farm near Trenton, Florida, where they bred and raised quality Arabian horses. Along his travels through life, he became a very accomplished and knowledgeable horseman.
While living in Trenton, Jim became a volunteer firefighter. He worked his way up the ladder to become the chief of the Waccasassa volunteer fire department. That is where he and his fellow firefighters were instrumental in starting a food bank to help the people of their community in need, to keep food on their tables. This was a very proud moment in his life.
In his senior years Jim moved to Ocala, Florida to be closer to his family. He lived the remainder of his life with his son at the Ivines Ranch.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Jackie Ivines and his youngest son, Clint Ivines. Jim is survived by Thomas Ivines, Charlene Ivines Bielling, and JD Ivines.
Jim lived a long and fulfilling life. He will be loved and missed by many.
Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Ivines Family.
