Carl Kelle, age 81 of Orange Park, FL, passed away on October 14, 2021. Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Kelle family.
So sorry to learn of my dear friend’s passing. May God Bless Carl and all who loved him.
Carl and I worked together at GEICO for most of our careers. The GEICO GFR Program, especially when its primary purpose was to support the Military and their Families, was a passion for Carl and the many support people who worked for and with him. Condolences to his family. We have all lost a caring friend and a wonderful family man.
We were crestfallen to learn of Carl's illness and passing. He helped make many business functions fun. Carl always showed a streak of independence and although there were many who wanted to help him, he ran his own business within a large corporation. When I was in my rookie years he helped me understand the insurance business. May everyone remember the good times Carl brought into their lives and not this moment of sorrow.
Carl was a unique individual, his management of the GEICO GFR program was very special for his ability to bring all factions, company and GFR, together during his long tenure as head of the program.
Carl, you will be missed.
Carl was like a 2nd dad to me. His passing has touched many of us. All of his family is in our thoughts and prayers.
It was an honor to care for Mr. Kelle. I wish I had met him under better circumstances. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
Debi, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I am keeping you lifted in prayer and am sending you love.
Carl was a Good Person, Cared About Others, Served The Nation As An Airborne Soldier (Hooah/Airborne All The Way) And Good Friend…He Passed On To Me A Really Good GFR Program And Was Always Willing To Provide Advice/Help….He Is Missed…Condolences/Sympathy To His Family/Friends
I'm saddened to hear of Carl's passing–the news brought back so many memories. I worked for him for Lord knows how many years at Mother GEICO. Carl taught me the agency business model, how it subsisted within GEICO's direct response model, and how we, as GEICO associates first, managed that relationship for the welfare of our agents. He taught how to enjoy the finer things in life, like lobster from Cape Porpoise, ME, a rental car in Orlando in January that just happened to be a convertible, fine wine and finer after dinner drinks. He taught me the value of friendships in business and where to draw the line–boundaries if you will. Oh the stories I could tell about a GEICO life well-lived. When I think about Carl I think about Blanche, about his children whom he adored, about Harry Bond, George Young, the Hilliards, the Donohos, Ed Utley, Jim Hitt, Bob Miller, Dan Coughlin, George Lewin, Jerry O'Neill, Al Kraus, just so many people/personalities and Carl was the link in the chain, the connector…. I remember when I first started working for him (make no mistake, one worked for Carl not with Carl), he invited me to breakfast in the Plaza cafeteria where he, George Young, Jack Burt, and a number of others would hold court on all things Redskins (I mean the Washington Football Club–boy, would he love that name!). I especially remember Carl's pronouncement that we should avoid the Christmas rush and FIRE Joe Gibbs summarily after the team lost Gibbs' first six games (after all, Gibbs came from the Left Coast San Diego Chargers). And I remember how readily Carl admitted his mistake and embraced Gibbs' teams (Super Bowl Bound Redskins!). Carl Kelle played a pivotal role in my early GEICO career, and I will remember him and that time, warts and all, fondly and with gratitude. May his soul rest in the peace that passes all understanding. Hugh McClelland
