Wayne Alan Winkel was 74 when he went to be with Jesus on October 28, 2021. He was born in Babylon New York to Mildred and William Winkel and moved to Gainesville, FL in 1970. He retired from AT&T after 43 years of service and loved his life on Willow Walk Farms in Alachua. He loved “ his people “ but they did not hold a candle to his animals. He had cows, chickens, dogs and cats with a special mention to his 24 year old donkey Henry who would come running to him whenever he called. He also named every single one of his animals and cherished them every day. He was always a prankster and a jokester and Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday as he loved to cook and eat! He is survived by his children, their spouses and his grandchildren. Michael and Kelli Winkel and their boys Blake, Bryce and Cole, Christopher and Cheryl Winkel and their three children Tyler, Grace and Jessica, Bridget Winkel Mossor and husband Mickey and their three children Brady, Jackson and Molly, Deanne Winkel Williams and her husband Colin and their three children Colin Jr., Drew and Logan. He had two bonus sons Scotty and Jennifer Douglas and their two children Brandon and Jordan and Jason Douglas and his daughters Madison and Mekenna and his good and loyal friends Wanda and Richard LeBrun . A very special thank you to the 4th floor Surgical ICU at North Florida Regional Medical Center and Haven Hospice in Gainesville who gave us the invaluable gift of time with him. He will be greatly missed ❤️. In lieu of gifts please consider a donation to be made to www.humanesociety.org/memorial

So sorry for your loss
Dee Williams Watson
Cousin of Wayne. So sorry to read he has passed – it would have been his 75th birthday. He was my oldest cousin and such a nice guy. His mom and my Dad were siblings.
