Mary Louise Bell Coffman passed away peacefully at her home in Melrose, FL, surrounded by her loved ones and received her Savior’s welcoming embrace on November 2, 2021.
Mrs. Coffman was born September 15, 1931 in Olustee, Florida, the youngest of five children born to Jessie & Daniel Bell.
Attending church was a priority in Mary’s life and it was at church where she met the love of her life, Harold Coffman. They married on February 28th, 1948 in Folkston, GA. Mary and Harold were blessed with children: Margaret, John and Donald. The Coffman family moved to Melrose, FL in 1969.
After Harold’s retirement as a civil service aviation mechanic for NAS Jacksonville in 1977, the Coffmans enjoyed traveling around the country with the Airstream camping club. They entertained numerous friends and family. Mary’s talent for fixing delicious meals was particularly anticipated and appreciated by all who gathered.
Members & clergy at Trinity Baptist Church supported and comforted Mary when Harold passed in 1996. Several years later, Mary married James Doyle “J.D.” Rio, a widower & fellow Airstream club member. Mr. Rio passed away in 2007.
In addition to Harold and J.D., Mrs. Coffman was predeceased by her sons John and Don.
Mourning Mary’s loss include daughter Maggie Coffman and her husband Rollin Bearss; grandchildren Joshua Cooksey, Cameron Bassil, Dessarae Bassil, great grandchildren, Madison Bassil, Rebecah Bassil and Anderson Bassil.
Mary’s family would like to express their deep appreciation for the loving care Mary received over the years from many friends, especially her beloved friend Hannah; Dale and Salina Jones; John Sutton; and the Griffins family.
According to Mary’s wishes, there will be no service. She asked if one is inclined to remember her, to consider making a donation to the Keystone Heights Food Bank.
