Linda Winn

Linda Elizabeth Winn, age 79 passed away Tuesday December 14, 2021 at the E.T. York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville, Florida. She was born February 8, 1942 in Florala, Alabama.

Linda attended Sidney Lanier Elementary School, Buchholz Middle School and graduated in the Class of 1960 from Gainesville High School. She attended the University of Florida and received her Certification in Professional Medical Services Management. Linda retired from North Florida Regional Medical Center after 25 years as Director of Medical Staff Services.

On August 18, 1962 she married her life-long friend and childhood sweetheart, Byron M. Winn III. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary August 18, 2012. Linda and Byron enjoyed spending time at their condominium in Crescent Beach and loved going to the mountains of Western North Carolina. Linda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She had so many wonderful friends throughout her life and remained close with a special group of childhood girlfriends.

Linda enjoyed the many new friends she met at the Village where she lived the past eight years as well as her amazing care-givers Connie and Iris who gave so much and meant so much to her over the years. People who knew Linda described her as the nicest person, beautiful inside and out. We knew her as a Southern lady, polite, kind, giving, determined and always so strong no matter the circumstances. Linda will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Byron M. Winn III; father, J.T (Tom) Donalson; mother, Elizabeth Donalson and her beloved dogs Angel, Max, Cando and Cottonball.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Winn Nordstedt; son-in-law (more like a son), David Nordstedt, son, Mike Winn; grandsons, Ryan Michael Winn & Zachary Thomas Winn; brothers Dr. Tommy Donalson (wife Pat); and Tim Donalson (wife Jane), nieces and nephews and little dog Dreamer who was always by her side and loved by the residents at the Village.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the beginning of the New Year.

In lieu of flowers, Linda requested donations be provided to Hospice who have helped so many.
