Joseph E Galardy

January 18, 2022

It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of Joseph Earl Galardy, on January 18, 2022.

Joseph was born on May 14, 1952 in Bayamo, Cuba to parents Dr. Jose’ Angel Galardy and Jean (Haviland) Galardy. Joe spent his early years enjoying the richness of Cuban culture and life in Bayamo. Due to the Cuban Revolution, the Galardy family relocated to the United States, settling in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Joe was an accomplished athlete, playing basketball, baseball, and football, ultimately attending Moses Brown Preparatory School in Providence, Rhode Island. Upon High School graduation, Joe attended University of Miami, Florida. It was during his early years in college when Joe’s family grew with the addition of his brother Paul Galardy. Joe was so very proud of his brother, and all of Paul’s achievements. Joe graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1975, as a member of the Phi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. This is where Joe met and fell in love with Marian (Carson) Galardy. The two were married in 1974 in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania. Joe and Marian settled in Havertown, Pennsylvania where they started their family. Over the next many years, Joe and Marian moved around the country due to the career advancements of Joe in the insurance industry before settling in California. It was California where they spent more than 20 years together. They grew their family to include three loving daughters, Kelly, Chrissy, and Jo Anne. The family enjoyed countless wonderful memories with friends and family throughout the country.

Joe was an avid golfer, a jack of all trades, and there wasn’t a recipe he couldn’t master. He was incredibly proud of his brother, his three daughters, and especially his nine grandchildren. During the last 12 years Joe had retired and relocated to Gainesville, Florida where he took great pride in the care for his mother Jean and their sweet dog Sammy.

Joe is preceded in death by his father, Jose Angel Galardy and his daughter, Kelly (Galardy) Cramer. Joe is survived by daughters Chrissy (Galardy) Selva and her husband Mario; Jo Anne (Galardy) Bradley and her husband Eric; grandchildren, Carson (21), Camren (18), Cassidy (16), Hank (12), Juliet (12), Truman (10), Carlo (9), Gus (8), and Billy (6); mother, Jean (Haviland) Galardy; brother Dr. Paul Galardy and his wife Dr. Christine (Wolden) Galardy and their children Tyler (21) and Xander (17) and his former wife Marian (Carson) Galardy.

Joe will forever be remembered with a smile that lit up his face. He always had a joke or a recipe to share, and he supported numerous philanthropies that were near and dear to his heart. His zest for life will live on as we continue to always “Go Big or Go Home!” May Joe be at peace and forever rest easy.
