Lynn Harris-Cera

February 10, 2022

Lynn Harris-Cera, age 57, passed away on February 10, 2022 in Gainesville, Florida. She was born July 12, 1964 in Gainesville, Florida, the daughter of Robert Harris and Peggy Schroeder (Shaeffer).

Lynn married Tim Cera on March 14, 1987 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Orlando, Florida. They have three children; son Sage Cera, age 27, daughter June Cera, age 22, and son Reed Cera, age 19.

Lynn earned a Bachelor of Art Education degree from the University of Florida in 1990, and subsequently taught for eight years at Oak Hall School until taking time to be home with their children after their daughter June was born. Later, when returning to the workforce she was an office manager at a local law firm, eventually again teaching art for one year at Hidden Oak Elementary School. She also taught art to pre-K and kindergarten children at Abiding Savior School and taught several summer art workshops to middle school students from her home.

In 2009 Lynn was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson's which progressed over the course of her life to eventually confining her to a wheelchair. Lynn liked to play canasta and had two weekly groups that would meet at different restaurants or at her house to play. When she could no longer hold the cards, someone would play alongside her to be her hands.

Lynn was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, and was very active in several aspects of the church from helping to prepare for the annual Madrigal Dinners by painting backdrops or sewing costumes, making display banners, and painting murals with the youth group.

Lynn is survived by her husband Tim Cera, their children Sage, June, and Reed, her father Robert Harris, mother Peggy Schroeder (Shaeffer), sisters Cheryl Parsch (Schroeder), and Karen Wilson (Schroeder). She is preceded in death by her stepfather Gary Schroeder.
