Jacqueline Helene Zucali

August 26, 1943 ~ March 18, 2022

Jacqueline Helene Zucali, 78, of Gainesville, Florida passed away on March 18th, 2022, after a battle with cancer.Jackie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Jackie was born August 26, 1943, on Long Island. She spent time in Ohio, Nebraska, and New York before moving to Gainesville, Florida in 1982. She was a dedicated teacher who touched the lives of many students at both Eastside and Gainesville High Schools. She loved developing unique science experiments to get students excited about learning. After retirement, Jackie enjoyed cruising with her husband, her family, and her gang of friends. On board you could find her with a mudslide in one hand and the other pressing buttons on a lucky slot machine. She always had fresh flowers in the house, a stocked bar on the porch, and a great group of friends for mischief. Her family will carry on the traditions she started and continue adding to her coveted Santa Claus collection. Jackie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jim; her daughters Jill (Jeff Bazinet) and Joelle (Boyd Martin); her son, Jeff; and two extremely loved grandchildren, Julien and Jamison.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Jackie’s favorite charity, St Jude Children’s Hospital.

  1. Jackie was a great friend and neighbor. Anyone who knew her admired her for her support of Jim, her children, her students and her neighbors. She loved a good cocktail and a sarcastic comeback. A valued member of the original Fashionable Upper Rock Creek organization FURC, she was one of kind who I always admired. Rest In Peace, Jackie. We loved you.

  2. I never had the privilege of meeting Jackie, but I’m honored to call her daughter Jill my friend. And any lady who raised Jill is an incredible human being in my book. So sorry for the family’s loss.

  3. Bob went to grade school, high school and college with Jim. I met Jackie and Jim at Kent State U. We were fortunate to be able to take many memorable cruises and Las Vegas trips together. Jackie became one of my dearest friends even though we were many miles apart. We usually talked a couple of times a week and helped each other solve our own problems plus those of the world!  I’ll miss her terribly.  Our love and support is with Jim and family. Jo and Bob

  6. It's overwhelmingly sad when someone is taken so quickly. But Jackie was a stalwart, seemingly always in charge. Jim was so fortunate to have found her – at Kent State no less. Theirs was a marriage bound to last. And Jim was oh, so lucky to have found her and she, when Jim took sick so many years ago, wasn't one to complain, but to try to work out the best arrangement she could for she and Jim, and their children.
She'll be missed most by her family, but for us who were Jackie and Jim's friends, we can be thankful for the good memories that'll endure.

  7. We knew Jackie for 36 years! It was joy to be around her and listen to her wisdom about life and see her smile and hear her laugh. Always good host to us. Gainesville just lost a very precious woman and truest an angle. We will miss her terribly

  8. Jackie made some of my most difficult days cheerful and interesting. It was such a pleasure getting to know her just a little. And I know how much I missed by not being blessed to know her better. I am grateful for her kindness and humor.

  9. Jackie was a wonderful friend and neighbor. Always kind and generous. We will miss her terribly!
