Buddy Thomas Arendall, of Williston, Fla., passed away in Gainesville, in the afternoon hours of Tuesday, September 13, 2022, after complications from surgery.
Born on October 5, 1946 in Halifax, Va. as the oldest son of Raleigh Thomas and Ruby Pickeral Arendall, Buddy was a gifted athlete, playing baseball as a young man, and in adulthood, skiing during winter trips throughout the country and tearing up golf courses. He enlisted and served honorably in the United States Army, including valiant service during a tour of duty oversees during the Vietnam War. Buddy moved to Florida in 1980 and worked in freight logistics for Yellow Corporation before retiring in 2015. A proud Veteran who loved his country, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, caring diligently for those he loved, cheering for the Florida Gators, and entertaining with his incomparable, charismatic personality.
Buddy is survived by a large, loving family, including his children, daughter Michelle Arendall (Karl) Gundal of Lake Mary, Fla., daughter Kristina Marie Arendall (Joe) Sterba of Williston, Fla., daughter Debray (Tommy) Sparkman of Richmond, Va., daughter Karin Gunderson of Fitchburg, Wis., and son Randy Arendall (Debbie Catania) of Tampa, Fla.; his sister, Rose Arendall Hunter (Lea Ann Nystrom); his brother, Dennis M. (Bonnie) Arendall, Sr. of North Chesterfield, Va.; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Raleigh and Ruby, and by his sister, the late Linda Arendall Womack of Manassas, Va., and his brother, the late James H. Arendall II of Chesterfield, Va.
