Delmer Gordon Goodrich, Jr., passed away on September 15, 2022, in Gainesville, Florida, with family at his side, after years with cancer.
Del was born on November 30, 1935, in Western Massachusetts. He grew up in the Chatham, NY, area and was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Delmer Goodrich, Sr., and his wife, Carolyn Signor Goodrich. He is survived by his older sister, Elaine Hooke of California, and a twin brother, Roger Goodrich of Tennessee. He graduated from Cobleskill College where he earned a degree in agricultural engineering. There he met his wife of 63 years.
Carolyn and Del raised three children, Cathy Cavanaugh of Gainesville; Holly Sheldon, husband Gordon and son Dean, of Kalispell, MT; and Brad Goodrich, wife Claire, and daughter Kaia, of Jacksonville, FL.
Del was a devoted husband and father, immensely proud of his children. He was a builder, maker, fixer, and tinkerer who rarely encountered a car, structure, or object that he could not improve. He built and added on to several homes, restored cars, and made furniture and Shaker boxes in his workshop. He loved baseball and the Florida Gators. Del was very close with his twin brother, a relationship that resulted in innumerable adventures and hijinks.
Del and his family lived primarily in the Chatham and Cobleskill, NY, areas until moving to Vero Beach, FL, in 1978. After serving in the Army, National Guard, and Reserve, Del worked as a manager of car dealerships and condominium communities. In retirement, Carolyn and Del lived briefly in Tennessee, before returning to Florida.
Del’s family will hold a memorial at St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church in Spencertown, New York, followed by burial in Ghent, New York. They invite you to contribute to Haven Hospice of Gainesville in his name.
Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Goodrich Family.

My condolences to the family at this time of great loss. It was an honor to meet Mr. Goodrich earlier this year. His sister, Elaine, and I have been conversing for several years and I know he was loved and valued.
