Sally Lynn Walker

August 9, 2022

Sally Lynn Walker, age 63, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Haven Hospice care center in Gainesville, Florida. She was born February 22, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan to Donald and Kathleen (Joyce) Walker. She graduated from Boca Ciega High School in Gulfport, FL and from the University of Florida with a degree in Sociology. She then realized her true dream to become a registered nurse. She received her RN degree from Santa Fe College and then her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. Sally had very fond memories of her time as a student at the University of Florida specifically in the UF Presbyterian Student Center and working as a Pharmacy Technician at Shand’s Hospital. She worked for over 35 years as a Registered Nurse in multiple settings such as Medical-surgical, Surgical intensive care, Burn, Research, and Eastside Clinic. Her passion was caring for others, and she especially enjoyed her latest role as a Health Coach with Internal Medicine where she worked hard to keep patients healthy at home. She recently retired from UF Health Shand’s where she built lifelong friendships through the years. Sally had a love for the outdoors especially camping, hiking, and kayaking. Her favorite memories are a trip to Peru and visiting as many National parks as she could with her daughter Elizabeth. She had an uncanny ability to support her family and friends unconditionally, make any situation better, and make you laugh with her dry sense of humor. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Grace Walker, Siblings: Susan Korzik (Gary), Steven Walker, Scott Walker (Karen), and Sharon Frank (Garry), many nieces and nephews plus a multitude of close friends.

Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Sally to Family Promise of Gainesville or the Alachua Conservation Trust.

    -great description for Sal!

  3. Sally welcomed David and I to Kimberly Woods neighborhood with open arms. We spent a lot of time together with Elizabith. Sally was a good friend and a phone call away even when she moved out of the neighborhood.
