James Louis Baker, Sr.

James Louis Baker, Sr., 86, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on October 19, 2022 after a long battle with cancer.

He is survived by his sister Lois Fawcett; son James Baker, Jr. (Nancy); daughters Janet Cagle (Marke) and Pamela Jordan (Richard); seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Jack L. Baker and Edna Whitten Baker; sister Edna Earl Amick; and brother Thomas N. Baker.

He was born in Anderson, SC on August 25, 1936. He graduated from Landon High School and attended the University of Florida. He was a mechanical engineer by trade. He was a member of ASHRAE and The Sierra Club and loved birding. He participated in Shih Tzu puppy rescues and was an avid reader. He will be missed.

  1. Jim was a dear friend. Full of helpful advice and wisdom, which he was always willing to share. He had a great mechanical mind. There was a deep kindness about him which was not on the surface but definitely there.I will miss him.
