Sherry Forth

December 9, 2022

Sherry Forth, 77, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022, in Gainesville, Florida, in the arms of her son Bernie and daughter Michelle, following a long but fierce fight against Corticobasal Syndrome, a rare degenerative brain disease. She was born in Dublin, Georgia, on September 25, 1945, to the late George (Buck) Edward Clay and Louise Curl Clay. She married Earl Bernard Forth, Jr. on March 21, 1963. They moved to Douglas in 1970 and there they raised their two children. Though they divorced in 1988, they remained lifelong friends, enjoying time together with their family.

Sherry was a bookkeeper, working in banking and then the family grocery business before moving to her favorite place in the world, Fernandina Beach, Florida, in 1988. There she continued her career in bookkeeping until her retirement in 2010. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and friends, and loved spending every free moment on her beloved beach.

Sherry was a devoted and loving mother and Nana. You could often find her with her grandkids, whether on the sidelines of soccer games or on the floor playing games and making memories. She spent the summers with them collecting shells and shark teeth on the beach, and she never missed a Christmas, always with a “Happy Birthday Jesus” cake in tow.

Sherry is survived by her son Earl Bernard Forth III (Wendy); daughter Michelle Forth Brown (Kenny); four grandchildren, Haley Rae Brown Klicker (Riley), Kenneth Tyler Brown, Gage Aldridge (Erica), and Drew Forth; five great grandchildren, Dawson James Klicker (4), June Rae Klicker (2), Cooper Lake Klicker (11 months), Mattis James Aldridge (4), and Lyra Jo Aldridge (1); one brother Michael Lee Clay (Cecelia); and several nieces and nephews.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents George and Louise; former husband Earl; longtime partner John Cocoman; three siblings, Ronald George Clay, Pamela Clay Cook, William David Clay; and nephew James Edward Cook, Jr.

A private family celebration will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Brain Support Network www.brainsupportnetwork.org or CurePSP www.psp.org.

Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Forth Family.
