Vircy Ann Evans

October 1, 1943 ~ January 8, 2023

Vircy Ann Evans, 79, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away at the Haven Hospice Care Center in Orange Park, FL on January 8, 2023. She was born on October 1, 1943 in DeLand, FL, the daughter of Lewis J Lynn Sr and Edith Marie Evans Lynn.

She is survived by one brother, James Norman of Trenton, GA, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Lewis J Lynn Jr, and sister Juanita Miller.

Vircy led a full and active life, which she credited to her great faith and love of the Lord. She also had a deep love for her family and friends, and was always looking for ways to serve others. She graduated from college in 1963 with a nursing degree and worked for many years as a L.P.N. She especially loved working with newborns as an OB/GYN nurse, retaining that character and heart of a nurse all her life. Despite setbacks and challenges, she returned to college in 1999 and graduated in 2002 with a certificate in medical office systems, learning valuable computer skills that helped her in her quest to help others.

Vircy was a staunch advocate for the disabled and nursing home residents, writing letters to government officials, media, and anyone else who would listen. She received several awards for her efforts, including FHCA Resident of the Year. Living independently was very important to Vircy, which she proudly achieved for over 20 years with the help of God and friends and family. Her faith was also very important. She was an internet missionary and coordinated church services for the residents in her building.

Vircy enjoyed crocheting, writing poetry, gospel music, reading the Bible and devotionals, and scrabble. She never met a cat she didn’t love, especially the Jacksonville Jaguars. An oft-repeated phrase of hers that revealed her independent spirit was “My mama didn’t raise no fool.” Vircy was one of a kind and will be deeply missed.

Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Evans family.
