Corliss Dianne Herrholz Claypool entered into her Eternal Rest on February 9, 2023, after a lengthy and painful health battle. The daughter of Wesley Thayer Herrholz and Rosella Elizabeth (Betty) Wolfe Herrholz, Cory was born on August 4, 1946, in Jeannette, Pennsylvania. The family moved to Florida in 1955.
Cory graduated from Hialeah High School in 1964, attended Miami-Dade Junior College, and worked for the college as a library associate. On March 14, 1970, she and Reed N. Claypool were married at Palm Springs Presbyterian Church in Hialeah, Florida. They lived in Miami Springs, Florida, where Cory gave birth to two sons. Cory was a very loving and supportive mother to her sons and gave countless hours to their schools, working in Compensatory Education for Dade County Public Schools for several years in the 1980s. The family moved from Miami to Gainesville, Florida, in 1991.
Cory was also a talented craftswoman and artist and has passed those talents on to her sons and grandchildren.
Cory is survived by Reed, her husband of 53 years, her sons Brian and Garett, her grandchildren Corey and Zane, all of Gainesville, and her brother Lance Herrholz of Midlothian, Virginia. Nephew Eric, niece Ariane, and many other family members, friends, and neighbors also mourn her passing but are comforted by knowing Cory is now at peace.
No formal memorial service is planned at this time.

Was blessed to knit a prayer shawl for Cory several years ago. She fought a long hard battle and now she is at peace. My prayers for all those who love her….keep her memory bright by speaking her name and sharing her goodness with the world.
No words can express the sorrow or heal the pain for the Claypool and Herrholz families and for those that loved Cory. My condolences to all for the loss of a wonderful wife, mother, sister and dear friend to many.
Rest in peace my friend. Even though we were far apart we kept in touch through the years. I will always remember you fondly.
Love you,
Daisy
I new Cory since 1971 when I started working at Miami Dade Community College. She was so creative, and a wonderful friend. So sweet, and kind, and thoughtful. A loving wife, and wonderful mother, and grandmother. I will miss her. But feel her spirit will be close. Peace and love to her family.
Cory worked with my mother Leila in the Miami Dade College Library. My mom loved Cory, and I still have a Christmas bell pin and a retirement embroidery she made for my mom over 50 years ago. Cory was a lovely person. Sad to hear of her passing, but she is not forgotten.
Oh no, a beautiful person was taken to heaven but God knows what is best. Â Cory and I had so much fun planning our weddings. Â She was my sister. Â God hold her in your arms. I love you, Â Joanie Schwab HuffÂ
