Dr. Robert Potter Dilbone, Sr of High Springs, FL went to his heavenly home in the early morning hours of February 28, 2023.
Known to all as Bob or Dr. Bob, he was a loving husband to Peggy, a loving father to Diana Belperio (Marco), Elizabeth Holdridge, Rob Dilbone (Deborah), Amy Gallant (Jeff) and a cherished Papa to thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Born and raised in Sidney, Ohio, Bob attended The Ohio State University for both undergraduate and veterinary medicine.
Upon graduating, he promptly moved to Florida where he had spent his summers growing up. He opened his first practice in the early 60s in the sleepy coastal town of Naples where he would practice Veterinary Medicine and raise a family for some 35 years before moving to High Springs in the mid 90s where he started two veterinary practices, Hilltop Animal Hospital and in 2012, High Springs Animal Health Center from which he retired at the age of 82.
An avid outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed hunting in the Everglades and fishing among the ten thousand islands and the Gulf of Mexico.
Above all, Bob truly loved being a veterinarian and he LOVED animals! He had a special way with his patients and valued his role in caring for their well-being.
He lived a long, full life and leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and memories for the family and friends fortunate enough to be part of his extraordinary journey.
He will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob’s memory to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or First Christian Academy, High Springs, Fl. Thank you!

Love you and miss you Papa. I will always cherish the memories I have you growing up and all the things you taught me.
Sorry to hear of Robert’s passing. As a youngster, and later a young man, I knew him as Doc, as other members did at the Fahkahatchee Conservation Club. RIP Doc.
Dear Dr. D., My father Robert (Doc) O. Barker both opened your MEDICAL PRACTICEs in NAPLES, FL. in the 1st CHLUMPSEY BLDG. about the same year (1963) on the EAST TAMIAMI TRAIL (US41 East) . I was 9yrs old that year & I wanted to be a VET very much, but when my mom died 6yrs later our WORLD was turned upside down & I was always too shy to ask for your help & I was unable to finish undergraduate school, so I never achieved my life's dream of being a VET.
I was so sorry to hear you had died. I always thought so much of you & your work ! RIP,
Barb (Barbara A. Barker Hansen)
