Robert McKee Jones

December 20, 1944 ~ April 5, 2023

Robert McKee Jones, son of Clyde Walter Jones and Viola McKee Jones peacefully passed from this life after a brief illness on April 5, 2023 at Healthcare Corporation of America (HCA) Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.

Mr. Jones was born in Washington, DC on December 20, 1944 and was educated in Washington, DC Public Schools. He furthered his education during his tenure in the U.S. Navy and after completion of his Military Service. He proudly served his country for five years (July 1965 through April 1970). During his tenure with the Navy Mr. Jones, was awarded the following commendations: National Defense Service Metal, Navy Unity Commendation Ribbon, Viet Nam Service Metal, and Viet Nam Commendation Ribbon. Upon completion of his Naval tour of duty, he received an Honorable Discharge.

After his Military Service, he was employed in the Federal Government as a Contracting Officer for approximately 35 years. He retired from Federal Government in the late 1980’s. Mr. Jones was a lifelong history buff, a car enthusiast, and an avid traveler.  

Mr. Jones was married to the late Cindy Blackstock. The marriage was blessed with a son, the late Damon Jones. To cherish his memory, Mr. Jones is survived by a granddaughter, Kenyiah Jones; four sisters, Dorothy Morrison, Cynthia Jones-Donovan, Shelia Brinkley, and Anna Lloyd; four nephews: Christopher Jones, Shawn Walker, Mark Fells, and Bjarne Christiansen: two nieces; Megan Christiansen and Keishia Fells; great nephew Kasper Christiansen and great niece Mia Fells. Mr. Jones will be missed by his many relatives and friends. 

 

The Memorial Service will be a private ceremony with close family and friends present.
