May 23, 1946 ~ April 20, 2023

Rebecca “Becky” Gray, 76, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones after a brief battle with cancer.

Born May 23, 1946, in Jacksonville, Florida to Samuel and Myrtis Ellison. Becky was the oldest of five children.

Becky graduated from Englewood High School in 1964. She later attended college at Florida State College at Jacksonville. She worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield for 28 years where she held several positions including her last position as an analyst before retiring. However, her favorite job was babysitting her grandchildren after her retirement.

Becky was a music lover and had a vast album collection. She also enjoyed painting and traveled to forty-nine states, as well as several other countries. Through her many vacations with her grandchildren, she bestowed her love of travel to them. Becky loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Becky is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Ronald Aubrey Gray; her mother, Myrtis Suber Ellison; her three children, Sandra (Jeff) Stephan, David (Naomi) Pangborn, Angela (Shane) Hamilton; sisters, Bonnie Odle and Janet (Ken) Swank; brothers, Bruce (Elizabeth) Ellison and Kelly (Debbie) Ellison; her grandchildren, Crystal, Daniel, Brenna, Sara, Luke, Isaac, Steele and Mitchell and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Marvin Ellison, Jr.

  1. I will always have a special place in my heart for Becky. Her love of music was a common bond, and when I'd see her, the subject always came up. She was sure to ask how life was going for me and my family, and would laugh at the silly jokes I'd tell her. She was a joy to those who knew her and will be missed by all.

  2. Becky was such a sweet lady. We went to Englewood High School together.
Prayers for her family during this time of grief.
