Christopher Rocher

Christopher "Chris" Owen Rocher, 49, of Gainesville, FL passed away on May 5, 2023 at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital of complications from cancer.

Chris was born in Orlando, FL to parents Debbie Rocher and Ismael Gomez. He and Sue Shenberger were married on October 24, 1998 in Newberry, FL.

He earned two associate degrees from Santa Fe College (where he met Sue), and a bachelor's degree from University of North Florida.

As a T&D specialist, Chris worked at Alachua County Property Appraiser in the IT department and Inspired Energy where he worked as an electrical engineer/IT manager. His companies with Sue, C&S Computing and Rocher Enterprises, Inc., provided repair work, networking and training individuals with disabilities on using their computers and other technologies.

Chris' hobbies included reading, music, learning about Japanese culture, anime, manga, board/video/role-playing games, watching sports and spending time with family and friends.

Chris is survived by his wife, Sue Rocher, and 6-year-old son, Mitchell, of Gainesville; his mother, Debbie (David) Sheneman of Palmetto, FL; sisters Amanda Heimerman of Gainesville, Denise (Brian) Hilsenrath of Boca Raton, FL, Debra (Timothy) Teter of North Fort Myers, FL, and Laura Gomez (Hector Gonzalez) of Ciudad del Este, Paraguay; his grandmother, Beatrice Rocher of Jacksonville, FL; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ismael Gomez; his grandparents, George Rocher, Augustin Gomez, Edward and Mary Neary and Gorgonia Gomez; and sister, Mary Ann Voepel.

Chris wanted to be remembered as a husband, father, and nerd.
