Gerardo Suarez

Mr. Gerardo Suarez 93, of Keystone Heights and Miami passed while in hospice care, Tuesday, May 23, 2023, succumbing to dementia. He was born September 10, 1929, in Cuba to parents Jose and Carlota. Mr. Suarez emigrated to the United States with his wife, Felina, and young daughter Carmen in 1961 fleeing the communist Castro government. His son, Gerardo Suarez Jr., was born in New Jersey in 1963. Mr. Suarez had a very successful career in the fleet management industry, having managed fleets for Burdines retail stores and Ryder. He made a second career teaching automotive and diesel mechanics at Robert Morgan Educational Center & Technical College which is part of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools system. He enjoyed being outdoors boating with his family, listening to Spanish zarzuelas and tinkering with new inventions in his workshop. He is survived by his children Gerry Suarez and wife Jackie of Keystone Heights and Carmen Suarez of Miami. Also left behind is a sister in law Margarita Rios of Miami and a nephew.
