William L Owens Jr.

William “Bill” L Owens, Jr, of Fanning Springs, passed away peacefully in his home on May 31st, 2023 at the age of 73.

Bill was born in July of 1949 in Jacksonville, FL to parents Bill Sr (D) and Jackie (D). He spent many years working in home construction with his father, before becoming a correctional officer for the State of Florida from which he retired. He was a proud US Air Force veteran, and a charter member of AmVet Post 422 in Fanning Springs where he served as their Financial Officer for many years. He shared a lifelong love of coin collecting with his father, and loved to fish in any body of water he could find, and you could often find him out on his boat in Cedar Key. 

Bill is survived by his four children, Chris Owens, Anastasia Haviaras, Audrey MacKay, and William “Will” Owens III; nine grandchildren, and his four sisters.
