Gloria L. Godbee Basaldu

August 29, 1947 ~ June 4, 2023

Ms. Gloria L. Godbee Basaldu, age 75, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2023, at St. Vincent's Riverside [Community Hospice]. Gloria was born on August 29, 1947, in Jacksonville, FL, to the late Roy E. Godbee, Sr. and Lillie Godbee.  She attended Ribault High School. She spent many years residing in Galveston, TX and surrounding areas.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years Richard Basaldu; brother Roy E. Godbee, Jr.; sister Margaret Leona Ferreira; Dog/best friend, Gidgette.

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Toni Basaldu; special granddaughter, Renee "Sweetpea"; significant other, Max Allen; brothers Ray and Bobby Godbee; sister, Shirley Hudson; special friends Bev Sprague and Penny Morrow and a host of other family members and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

    I have been blessed all these years to have you and your family in my life. You have been here when i was going through some hard times. You were not only a friend you were a part of my family. Both my kids called you aunt gloria and Richard uncle. I know you are with Richard and your sister having a grand time with our heavenly father. You raised a beautiful daughter who im so proud of. We will always be here for toni. I will miss our shrimp dinner together and all the good times we had with our families. I love and miss you my true friend. Tell Richard i miss him to.     Thank you for all the kindness you’ve shown myself, my family and my Mother. Thank you for loving us and letting us love you.Thanks for Babysitting me when Mom had no one. Thank you for our Six Flags trip and all those chocolates. The Aristocrats  is still a fantastic favorite family movie, Thank you! And for all those dinners you cooked during the summer thanks again. I can only imagine the fun you’ve shared with your Daughter and I know somehow your love will continue to grow. My heart and thoughts are with you now Toni. May the days ahead bring comfort from loving memories.
