Steven Gornoski

  Steven John Gornoski, 71 years old, died at his home on July 2, 2023. He was a lifelong lover of Jesus who powerfully impacted countless thousands for the Kingdom as a minister and church planter all over the country. Even in times of weakness, Christ’s power was made perfect. May his memory be eternal.

  Steve was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, on September 17, 1951. He married Deborah Frink on March 4, 1977. He attended University of South FL, Oakland University, and Christian Theological Seminary. Steve started his career as an educator and added pastoral ministries, completing over four decades in each field. He was the pastor of the Community Church of God in Live Oak, FL. He also spent much of his life farming, coaching youth sports, serving his community through outreach projects, and volunteering as a guardian ad litem. Hobbies he enjoyed were flying a Piper J-3 Cub plane, playing various musical instruments, fishing, and telling stories to his grands and students. During the last decade of his life, he raised zebu cattle, paso fino horses, and poultry.

  He was preceded in death by his parents John Albert and Mary Ann Gornoski; his foster father, Stephen Voytoywich; his foster parents William and Mary Jones; his sister Caroline and his brother David. He is survived by his wife Deborah; foster mother Dorothy Voytoywich; his sons Christopher (Brandi), Daniel (Gabriela), and David (Yuliana); his siblings, Joann Wiggins, Paul (Nancy) Gornoski, Steve (Ruthi) Jones, David (Dale) Jones, Carol (Derral) Kent, Sharon (Jim) Knauer, Mary Fountain, and Stephen (Raquel) Voytoywich; ten grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
