It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dorothea “Bunny” Frances Molinet. She died at age 80 on August 20, 2023, in Jacksonville, FL.
She spent her career dedicated to helping others through health care. Bunny graduated from Miami-Dade College with a degree in nursing in 1972. She eventually pursued nurse leadership roles at Palms of Pasadena Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL, between 1991-2007.
Bunny was born in Philadelphia, PA, on June 19, 1943, to William T. Lang and Dorothea Gill. Bunny was the oldest of three sisters: Linda Karleskind and Peggy Nowakowski.
She married Roberto H. Molinet on December 7, 1961. Together they had three children: Robert, Michael and Jason. Later in life, Bunny married James D. VanSickle.
In her final years, Bunny moved to Jacksonville to live with her son, Michael. She loved tending a vegetable garden with her daughter-in-law, Alma Alic, playing with her adorable cats and watching FOX News.
She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Janet Finch Molinet, Alma Alic Molinet and Virginia Molinet; her sister, Peggy Nowakowski, of Redington Shores, FL; five grandchildren: Kal Molinet, of Richmond, VA; Davey Molinet, of Salem, MA; Elizabeth Sumner, of Hamden, CT; Katherine Molinet, of Durham, NC; William Molinet, of Jacksonville, FL; and one great granddaughter: Scarlet Joan Molinet, of Richmond, VA.
The family will hold a memorial service in St. Petersburg, FL, at a later date.
