Cynthia Richards

Cynthia (Cindy) Darlene Richards, 79 of Gainesville, FL passed away peacefully with her family around her on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. Cindy was born on April 9, 1944, in Binghamton, NY to Jesse and Frances Richards. She is survived by daughter Joette and her husband Robert Henderson of Gainesville, FL. Grandchildren Kyle and his wife Shelby Henderson and great granddaughter Raylynn Kay Henderson of Gainesville, FL, and Grandson Tyler Henderson of Gainesville, FL. Son Andrew and his wife Charlotte Smith of Ormond Beach, FL, and son Erinn and his wife Caitlin Smith of Palm Bay, FL, and grandchildren Lestat and his wife Nicole Smith of Richardson, Texas, Raven Smith of Fayetteville, NC, Cyrus Smith of Raleigh, NC, Annabelle Smith of Palm Bay, FL and Dylan Smith of Palm Bay, FL.   Sister Loretta Welch of Binghamton, NY, and brother Jess Richards of Deland, FL. She was blessed with many cousins growing up that she loved so much. She loved her faithful dog companion Mia, and cat Sally. She is predeceased by her father Jesse Richards, mother Frances Richards, and sister Melanie Weaver. Cindy was a Registered Nurse and was Director of Nursing for many years in Florida, until she found her true calling to work in Hospice, where she spent many years prior to her retirement. Growing up in 1959, she was awarded an honorary Life Member of the “Air Defense Team” for voluntary and faithful service in the Grand Observer Corps – part of the Air Force. Cindy loved sewing, quilting, and crafting, where she made many gifts for her grandchildren. Cindy had a deep passion for ancestry, and her immediate and extended family now have an extensive family tree for generations to pass down. A graveside service will be held later. Crevasse's Simple Cremation is in charge of her arrangements.
