Eric Anderson

Eric W. Anderson, age 46, of Gainesville, Florida passed away peacefully from this life on November 12, 2023 at his home with family at his side after a long battle with Fredreich’s Ataxia.

Eric was a strong and brave man throughout his disease progression in his early years and had a passion for the military. Prior to becoming wheelchair bound, Eric was a Cadet and captain of the rifle team in the Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps at Gainesville High School in 1993-1995. Eric was awarded Special Commendation as a cadet and was commended for his performance in the NJROTC for his loyalty, reliability, patriotism and exceptional performance on his unit and his will to excel. Eric marched in the Florida Gator’s Homecoming parade each year. His dream was to enlist in the Marine’s. He did go on to graduate from Santa Fe High School in 1996 and was able to walk across the stage to receive his diploma. Eric’s hobbies were many and he enjoyed collecting model ships, guns, RC cars, anything military related and raising cattle on his great grandmother’s old farm.

Eric is survived by his mother, Deborah Harrell of Gainesville, Florida; sisters Christina Anderson of Gainesville, Florida; Mandy Atha of Okeechobee, Florida and a host of loving family members. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Anderson of Gainesville, Florida; his great grandparents and grandparents.
