Karen Golder Whipple, age 64, passed away on December 6th, 2023 at her home in Gainesville, Florida.
Karen shared 37 years of blissful marriage with her late husband, Richard and, together, they provided the richest and fullest lives to their two daughters, Ashley and Brittany. Karen is also survived and missed by her two son-in-laws, two (soon to be three) grandchildren, her parents, and her brother and sister.
Second only to Karen’s commitment to her family was her limitless devotion to her students as a teacher for 40 years at Gainesville Country Day School. Her love of teaching extended far beyond the classroom, and she will forever be remembered for sharing life lessons, words of wisdom, and all things related to Gator sports.
In honor of Karen’s generosity and selflessness, donations can be made to the Jimmy V or Cystic Fibrosis Foundations.

To my beautiful sister, I promise I will find joy in every day. I am so grateful to have you as my sister
Ms Whipple was a wonderful teacher to both our daughters in the mid to late 80’s. She was firm, fair and really got to know each student and their parents. I believe she helped to inspire our youngest to become a teacher. Our prayers are with her family and friends❤️
There are no words that describe our sadness. Karen's kindness touched so many of our lives. Her memory will be in our hearts forever.
There is a huge hole in my heart. So many memories over 50 years. Karen, you were my touchstone and I’ll miss you forever
